Help Build the Toys Kids Love - and Parents Trust
At RMS International USA, we don’t just make fun - we make it safe, smart, and stress-tested. Every slime kit, squishy creature, and buildable set that leaves our hands is backed by a team ensuring it meets the gold standard in toy quality.
We're hiring a Quality Engineer to join our U.S. Product Safety team. This role reports directly to the VP of Product Quality and Intellectual Property and plays a key part in making sure our toys meet ASTM F963, CPSIA, and internal safety and quality standards.
As Quality Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with product samples, lab testing, packaging reviews, and production evaluations. You'll be involved throughout the product development lifecycle - from initial design reviews to final sign-offs - helping ensure that every toy we ship is safe, compliant, and awesome.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Conduct detailed product and packaging reviews for compliance with U.S. toy safety regulations.
- Apply ASTM F963, CPSIA, and FHSA requirements to evaluate toys for small parts, magnets, chemicals, and other hazards.
- Prepare sample evaluation reports, risk assessments, and internal QA documentation.
- Coordinate third-party testing with global labs and assist in resolving non-compliant results.
- Support packaging and labeling reviews to ensure correct warning placement and phrasing.
- Participate in factory inspections and post-market complaint investigations.
- Assist the Quality Manager with CAPAs, internal audits, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams (design, sourcing, compliance) and vendors to ensure quality goals are met.
What You Bring
- 1–3 years of experience in consumer product quality, toy safety, or testing coordination.
- Familiarity with U.S. toy regulations (ASTM F963, CPSIA, small parts rules, chemical warnings).
- Solid understanding of product testing, sample review, or regulatory compliance workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working with Excel, lab reports, inspection forms, and spec sheets.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills — you’ll collaborate across departments and time zones.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Product Safety, Industrial Design, or a related field
- Equivalent hands-on experience in toy QA or consumer goods safety will also be considered
